Coming Home (to oneself)
Acrylic, vintage magazine paper and charcoal pencil on canvas, 30” x 24”
It’s taken a long time to disentangle my inner child from self-centered fear, criticism, doubt, and shame. The first step was admitting I cannot drink alcohol like other people. I have come to accept that if I want to sustain true happiness within, I can’t even drink one, ever, because that sends the whole addiction in motion once again.
Letting go of alcohol was the first step on my healing journey. Over the past 17 years, I’ve spent time with a like-minded community, in self reflection, making amends, and reconnecting to my true Self. It’s been a slow, steady and emotional process. I believe every human being has the potential to come home to oneself. It begins with willingness to fell the truth.
