Home Guardian
Acrylic, paper and charcoal on canvas, 14” x 17 7/8”
For many years I had questions like, “How did this happen? Why did I become addicted to drinking? What makes me act like that? And why do I feel so bad?” In 2019 I became open to the answers. While raising my own young children, I began to look at all of the branches of my family tree. I had some thoughts, and I had some feelings. And then I learned how to look through the lens of compassion.
Home Guardian is a reflection of growth towards compassion, and the beginning of an understanding of self-compassion. One way I’ve learned to practice this is to protect myself, my inner home.
